A Recipe for Clean Windows
October 30, 2012

Washing windows may not be your favorite chore, but, if you're like me, you'll find that the end result is well worth the effort.

Here's an effective recipe for removing even tough dirt from window glass:

In a small bucket, mix together the following:

• 2 quarts of warm water
• 2 cups of rubbing alcohol
• 1/2 cup of ammonia
• 1/4 cup of vinegar
• 1 tablespoon of dishwashing detergent

Apply the liquid with a sponge or soft cloth, then remove it with a rubber squeegee. Wash any top floor windows first, and wash each window from top to bottom.

A Few Tips

1) Wait for a cloudy day to wash your windows. You'll be able to see the dirt and streaks easier.

2) If you'll be washing glass indoors, keep a few windows open so the ammonia fumes can escape.

3) To clean dirty window screens, mix just a squirt or two of dishwashing liquid with one gallon of warm water. Use a household brush to gently apply the mixture, then rinse with a garden hose.
